Who Will Let the Dogs Out will be hitting the road again—headed south to spend time in shelters and rescues across North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Virginia. It’s a whirlwind of a tour, but one with a very intentional purpose. The team believes that real change starts when we stop talking about shelters from a distance, and actually walk through their doors, look into their kennels, and meet the people doing the work every single day.
We all know the animal welfare community is hurting right now. Shelters are over capacity, resources are stretched thin, and the emotional weight on staff and volunteers is heavier than ever. But WWLDO also knows something else to be true—there are brilliant ideas, creative problem-solvers, and life-saving practices already happening in pockets across the country. The mission behind these tours is to find them, learn from them, and amplify them so that no shelter feels like they’re reinventing the wheel alone.
Sometimes, all a shelter really needs is to be seen for support to follow—whether that support comes in the form of donations, volunteers, local partnerships, or simply a surge of awareness. And for those facing more urgent struggles, WWLDO often steps in with emergency Instagrants or follow-up networking support to help them keep moving forward.
If you follow along during the trip, you’ll see stories from real shelters, real humans, and real animals—all reminding us why this work matters, even when it’s hard. And if you’re in any of the states on the route, your voice, your shares, or your support could make a bigger difference than you realize. Sometimes compassion travels far… and sometimes it starts right at home.
